Genesis 11:1-9

1. Genesis 11: 1 – 1 To this point in man’s history, everyone spoke with a common language.

2. Genesis 11: 2 – 4 People settled on a plain in Shinar building a city of brick instead of stone with a tower that ‘reaches the heavens, to give them self-importance, and they believed that if they didn’t do so they would be scattered over the face of the earth.’

3. Genesis 11: 5 – 6 God sees what the people were up to and said ““If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.”

4. Genesis 11:7 – 7 God then decided to confuse their language so that they would not understand each other.

5. Genesis 11: 8 – 8 Then God scattered the people over all the earth causing them to stop building.

6. Genesis 11: 9 The Lord confused the peoples languages of the world, the city was called Babel.

Genesis 6-8:19; Lesson 7

Genesis 6-8:19

1. Genesis 6:1 – 3  As the human population increased there occurred marriages between ‘sons of God’ and daughters of humans causing God to begin loosing patience ending with God declaring a limit on how long man will live.

2. Genesis 6:4 – 8 The Lord saw that wickedness and evil was becoming rampant so God decided to wipe the human race from the face of the earth, but leave a remnant as Noah found favor in God’s eyes.

3. Genesis 6:9 – 10 Noah was counted righteous in God’s eyes and along with his sons and their wives would be the remnant saved.

4. Genesis 6:11 – 16 Seeing the corruption on the earth God provide Noah with foreknowledge of the coming destruction, commands and plans to build the ark.

5. Genesis 6:17 – 21 God gives direction for saving the remnant upon the ark of animals and family.

6. Genesis 6:22 And Noah did all that God commanded

7. Genesis 7:1 – 16 God commands Noah regarding loading family and animals on the ark, which Noah obeys ending in God closing the door of the ark.

8. Genesis 7:17 – 24 The rain came for 40 days, the floodwaters came, the springs burst covering and flooding everything for a150 days, wiping out people and animals on the earth

9. Genesis 8:1 - 5 God’s plan for wiping out the unrighteous is completed and the waters stop and the ark comes to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

10. Genesis 8:6 – 12 Noah chronicles his tests to see when it might be safe to leave the ark after the waters recede.

11. Genesis 8:13 – 19 Noah see that the earth is once again dry but waits for God to tell him that it is time to leave the ark, to which they obeys coming out into the world.

1. Genesis 4:1 – 2  Eve became pregnant by Adam giving birth first to a son Cain (who grew up to work the soil) and sometime later to another son, Abel, who grew up to tend to flocks.

2. Genesis 4:3 – 5 Over the course of time, Cain brought an offering to the Lord of some of the fruits of the soil, and Abel also brought an offering, fat portions of the firstborn of his flock which the Lord looked on with favor vs. Cain’s offering which God did not causing Cain to become very angry and his face downcast.

3. Genesis 4:6 – 7 The Lord said to Cain, chastening him, “Why so angry and face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not that which is right, sin is at your door, and you must rule over sin.”

4. Genesis 4:8 – 9 Cain said to Abel “Let’s go to out to the field.” When there Cain attacked and slew Abel to which the Lord asked (knowing what had happened “Where’s Abel?” to which Cain lied in reply “I don’t know, Am I my brother’s keeper?”

5. Genesis 4:10 – 12 The Lord said “What have you done? Your brother’s blood cries out, and you are now cursed and driven from the ground and while you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you and you will be a restless wanderer on the earth.

6. Genesis 4:13 – 16 Cain said to the Lord “My punishment is more than I can bear to be driven from the land to wander the earth and whoever finds me will kill me to which the Lord said that no one would kill him giving him a mark. So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod which was east of Eden.
